Explain briefly the role of the position of CG in
a. loading a ship
b. sitting/standing on the upper deck of a bus

a. Loading a ship : Cargo is loaded in the lowest deck of a ship. This considerably lowers the CG and hence the turning moments of the weight also decrease. This increases the stability of the ship.
Sitting/standing on the upper deck of a bus : Passengers are usually advised not to stand in the upper deck of the double deck bus. When the passengers are standing, the CG rises. This decreases the stability of the bus. When the passengers are sitting, the CG gets lowered and stability of the bus increases.
