Does phenol and benzaldehyde undergo Friedal crafts alkylation/acylation reactions ?How?If no why not?

Dear Student

No, phenol and benzaldehyde do not facilitate the reaction because the Lewis acid catalyst coordinates with one of the lone pairs of electrons present on oxygen of -OH or CHO groups.

We hope that clarifies your query.
