Part (a)
First we construct the vector a+c by constructing the rectangle with given vectors a and c as sides. Then vector a+c is diagonal as shown in fig.(a).
In order to construct vector a+b+c, we redraw the vector a+c at O' with same magnitude and same direction, then we construct paralellogram with vectors b and a+c as sides.
Then diagonal of this parallelogram is the required vector a+b+c .
Part (b)
First we construct the triangle by connecting the starting point of vector c and ending point of vector b .
Hypotenuse of the triangle is vector b+c as shown in figure (b).
Now we redraw the vector b+c at O' with same magnitude and same direction so that we can construct a parallelogram with sides a and b+c.
The diagonal of this parallelogram is the required vector a+b+c .
