When a body is thrown upwards verticaly with initial speed u,
then time taken to reach the maximum height is obtained by using the formula " v = u+at " ,
using the final speed v =0, acceleration a = -g , where g is acceleration due to gravity.

Hence time taken t to reach maximum height is given by,

t = u/g ...........(1)

It is well known that if a body that is thrown vertically is taking certain time to reach a maximum height,
then it will take same time to reach the ground starting from maximum height.

Hence time taken T for the vertically thrown body to reach the ground, if it is thrown with initial speed u, is given by

T = (2u)/g ...................(2)

It is evident from eqn.(2) that time taken T is inversely proportional to g, i.e. acceleration due to gravity
