Things to Keep in Mind for Good Seed Germination

Good Seeds: Good seeds are the first major prerequisite for good seed germination. Your seeds shouldn’t be older than two years. It would be better if you buy seeds which come from the plants of your area. Those seeds will respond to the environment better.

Correct Temperature: It’s essential to have a suitable temperature for the seeds you’re planning to grow. You can’t grow a tropical plant in cool temperate temperatures. Every seed requires a different temperature. Research well on the kind of temperature your seeds require and then go ahead with the process of seed germination.

Light and Darkness Factors: Just like the temperature, every seed has different light requirements. Some seeds can’t germinate without light, while some prefer darkness. See to it that you place your seeds according to their requirements.

Planting the Seeds

Get the Vase Ready: Fill the vase with soil and other growing media you require for the seeds. Don’t overfill the vase; keep the soil under the rim.

Water: While you’re planting the seeds, you also need to moisten the soil by sprinkling some water. The soil should be lightly wet to provide the right environment for the seeds. Don’t overwater the soil.

Soaking: Some seeds require soaking before sowing. If that’s the case, soak your seeds overnight and then sow them.

Sowing: When you’re ready with the seeds, scatter them inside the pot. Don’t use too many seeds. After you’re done with sowing, you can put the pot in the right environment depending on the nature of the seeds. Keep watering the seeds regularly. Make sure you don’t overwater the seeds, as this will hinder their growth.

Your seeds will gradually grow into seedlings and then transform into plants. After the seedlings start growing, you may apply fertilisers. After sometime, transplant your seeds to a bigger container or garden.
