Passing Mark Criteria for CBSE Board Class 10 Examination 2019

CBSE has come up with new rules for passing Class 10 Board exams. The pass percentage for CBSE Class 10 Board exams remain the same at 33%. But 2019 onward, students will have to secure 33% separately in theory papers and internal assessments. To break it down further, students will have to score at least 27 out of 80 in theory papers and 7 out of 20 in internal assessments.

Last year, the pass criteria was a bit more lax for the student. In 2018, CBSE had re-introduced the Class 10 Board Exams after a long gap of 7 years, and students seemed to be struggling to keep up with the passing criteria. To make it easier for them, CBSE had agreed that students achieving overall 33% will be considered to have passed the exam. After introducing this move, 86.70% of 16,24,682 candidates who appeared for CBSE Class 10 2018, were able to clear the exams.

But, for the 10 lakh students appearing for CBSE Class 10 Board exams in 2019, the passing criteria will be as per the new rule introduced by CBSE. So, what next? The exams are first are fast approaching; the exams will be tentatively held in the first week of March 2019.
