NEET Result 2021 Declared: Cut-Off Slightly Slipped Down This Year

After a delay, the medical entrance examination, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 result is declared. As the medical entrance exam results are out, students will start applying for admissions. The admissions will be granted based on merit via counseling. First, students will have to register for counseling. Those registering under All India Quota (AIQ) can register at mcc.nic.in Different states will begin their registrations under state quota soon.

NEET Result 2021: The rank calculation formula has changed

NEET 2021 result this year has been prepared differently as the NTA (National Testing Agency) has removed the provision of giving priority to older candidates in rank lists. In NEET 2020 the age factor was used to decide the all-India topper as two students, Odisha’s Soyeb Aftab and Uttar Pradesh's Akanksha Singh both scored 720 out of 720. Soyeb was given All India Rank 1 as he was elder to Akansha. However, this policy is redundant from this year. This year, students getting higher marks or percentile scores in Biology subject will be preferred, followed by higher marks in Chemistry. If there is a tie, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers in all the subjects will be favored.

NEET cut-off at 720-138 Marks

Those who obtain 50 percentile marks in NEET 2021 will be eligible to seek admission in medical colleges based on merit. This year, the cut-off has slightly slipped down. Last year those who obtained marks in the range of 147 to 720 mark made a place in the 50th percentile. This year the score was in the range of 138 to 720. As many as 77-857 students have made it to the 50th percentile. Those in the reserved category need 40th percentile and 45th percentile scores to pass.

NEET Toppers

Similar to last year, this year's top rank holder has obtained full marks. The top three rank holders have scored 720 out of 720 marks. Mrinal Kutteri from Hyderabad has got All India Rank 1 followed by Tanmay Gupta from Delhi at rank 2, and Karthika G Nair from Mumbai at AIR 3. Karthika is also a topper among females
