Marathi in CBSE, ICSE & IB Curriculum in Maharashtra
The state has decided to amend the Maharashtra Official Language Act 1994.
To ensure that students from the CBSE, ICSE, IB, IGCSE and CIE boards in the state know Marathi, the Education Department has decided to incorporate the language in the curriculum.
The state has decided to amend the Maharashtra Official Language Act, 1994, to declare Marathi as the official language of the state. So far, Marathi was only compulsory in the SSC Board, but now every student in Maharashtra must know the language whether in CBSE or ICSE.
The Government is yet to decide on how to incorporate Marathi in the curriculum, whether it should be a 100-mark paper or a 50-mark paper or taught without conducting an exam.
