Difference Between Percentage and Percentile

Candidates often get confused between JEE Main percentage and percentile and assume they are the same. Percentage and percentile are two very different things.

The percentage is obtained by calculating the actual marks scored in each subject by the candidate. The percentile is the result of calculating relative marks. NTA awards rank based on percentile and NTA scores. Here is how you can calculate your percentile.

Percentile = (100 x the number of candidates who scored equal to or less than you) / (The total number of candidates who appeared in the particular JEE session)
