JEE examinations are national-level exams leading students to dream engineering careers. These are the entryway to prestigious IITs, CFTIs, NITs, and Government funded institutes. Every year lakhs of students compete for limited seats. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the exams, and the scores are generated at the national level, further determining the ranks. The set criteria for branch and IIT selection are based on these ranks.
The JEE Exam Phases
The exam is conducted in two main parts, JEE Mains and Advanced. Only the students qualifying in JEE Mains are eligible to appear in the Advanced exam. JEE Mains is further conducted in two sessions, giving students more chances for qualification.
The Latest Updates
The forms for JEE Mains have been filled out by January 12, 2023, on the official JEE website for the session I. The session I examinations began on January 24, 2023. It was conducted in two shifts on 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, and February 1.
The answer key for JEE main session 1 was updated on February 2 on the official website. Students can access and download the same through Application Number and Password or Application Number and Date of Birth.
Students can take Session II exams by filling out the forms from February 7, 2023. Moreover, exam dates for Session 2 have also been released. They are scheduled on April 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.
Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2023
NTA allows candidates to take the exam thrice in their career, where two sessions of JEE Main are considered one attempt. The eligibility criteria to appear for JEE Main 2023 are defined by age and academic qualifications.
Interest candidates from the general category must be born on or after October 1, 1998. The candidates belonging to SC/ST and PwD categories get an age relaxation of 5 years; thus, the minimum required birth year is October 1, 1993. The birth date and year printed on Class 10th results will only be considered.
Candidates must have cleared or appeared in 10+2 or equivalent examinations with PCMB as the subjects. Candidates who have not cleared intermediate exams in 2020 are not eligible to appear, regardless of clearing the exam later.
JEE Main 2023 Exam Pattern
Knowing the exam pattern is as important as the JEE syllabus to outshine in this competitive exam. There are two papers; Paper I is for admission to B. Tech. and Paper II is for admission in B. Plan. and B. Arch.

Marking Scheme for JEE Main 2023
There are 4 marks for a correct answer, and one mark is deducted for every wrong answer, regardless of MCQ and NAT. Unanswered questions will neither be awarded marks nor will lead to a deduction. It applies to all three B. Tech, B. Arch and B. Plan. Marks for the drawing will be according to drawing skills for B. Arch. Paper.
