The Indian Institute of Technology has announced the Joint Admission Test examination schedule. IIT JAM 2016 organised by the Indian Institute of Madras (IIT Madras) is conducted for admission to MSc and PhD degrees at IISc and IITs.

Important Dates of IIT JAM

Online registration	2 September 2015
Payment of fees	10 October 2015
Submission of application	14 October 2015
IIT JAM exam	7 February 2016
Declaration of results	23 March 2016
Online submission for admission	15 to 24 April 2016
Last date of submission at IIT Madras	29 April 2016
First merit list	15 June 2016
Second merit list	29 June 2016
Third merit list and final admission procedure	11 July 2016

The main objective of this exam is to consolidate Science as a career option for students all across the country. The IISc Bangalore and IITs conduct JAM for admission to various MSc and PhD programmes. Students can also pursue Joint MSc–PhD, dual degrees MSc–MTech or PhD dual degrees. The initiative taken by IISc and IIT is to motivate more students to pursue Research and Development careers in areas of Science and Technology.
