ShareThe Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Board (ICSE board) class 10 examinations have been going on since February 21, 2024. The students appeared for their Hindi examination today, 20th March. The examination was three hours long and commenced at 11.00 A.M. and concluded at 1.00 P.M. The students also got 15 minutes of extra reading time before the examination started. This year, around 2 lakh students are appearing for the ICSE class 10 board examination across the country. More than 2000 schools affiliated with the ICSE board will be conducting the exam.
The students were well-prepared to appear for their Hindi. Prior to the examinations, students discussed the possibilities of questions. Each student appeared to be confident of their preparation. The exam paper was of moderate difficulty and was a little bit lengthy. The students managed to complete the paper in the allotted time. Let us analyse the ICSE class 10 Hindi paper in detail.
Question Paper Structure
The ICSE class 10 Hindi paper has been divided into two parts: an internal assessment of 20 marks conducted during the academic year and the theory paper of 80 marks conducted today. Here, we are going to understand the details of the latter paper held on 20th March 2024.
The Hindi paper 2023-2024 was based on the standard ICSE board pattern that includes both the Hindi language and literature syllabus. Let us take a look at the pattern of this year's ICSE class 10 Hindi exam paper.
The Hindi exam paper was similar to the specimen paper released by CISCE. The question paper was divided into two sections, each for Hindi language and literature.
Question 1 was on composition writing for 15 marks. There were four different choices of types and topics of essays, including a picture composition for the students. The students were required to write an interesting and well-elaborated grammatically correct composition in around 250 words on any one topic of their choice.
Question 2 was on letter writing for 7 marks. The students had to choose and write a letter on any one of the given topics. The students had to write the letter in approximately 120 words.
Question 3 was based on comprehension passage for 10 marks. This question had an unseen passage followed by 5 questions based on the passage. The students had to answer the questions for 2 marks each in their own words.
Question 4 consisted of grammar exercises that included different grammar elements, such as adjectives, synonyms, antonyms, adverbs, idioms, and transformations of sentences. This question includes MCQ-based questions for a total of 8 marks.
Section B was based on the Hindi literature part of the academic session. The section was for 40 marks, and students had to attempt any four references to context-based questions. The section included questions from the three ICSE board-prescribed textbooks for the 2023-2024 session. Students were required to attempt one question from each of the textbooks of their choice and any two questions from the chosen textbooks.

The Hindi literature section also had moderate-level questions. The students are confident that they will score good marks and add a good score to their overall percentage. According to the analysis, students who have read the textbooks well and solved the previous years’ question papers can easily score 70+ marks on the Hindi examination.
