The Flashback….

Last year India hosted its first ever motor racing event and miserably couldn’t manage to make a good memory out of it. The racing track last year was not in the best condition as it lacked greenery and the dust spread all over clearly stated that the country was not well prepared for the mega event. The feedback got worse when a dog apparently came out of nowhere on the track. Even the length of kerbs at turn was less which created problems for the racers while drifting and speeding up. Also the competition was short on action as the speed luminary of Formula1 Sebastain Vettel with 349 points was leading the chart way ahead against Jenson Button with 222 points.

Though some unexpected incidents happened on the circuit such as Rubens Barrichello damaged his front wing, also later some clash was seen between Hamiltion, Massa and Briton which gave a reason to the crowd to cheer and applaud at some regular intervals, yet was not as thrilling as it could have been. Nevertheless the debut season of IGP was like a stress-buster for the sports lovers who were expecting something new apart from CWG scams going around. And finally when the occasion arrived, the energetic and overwhelmed racing enthusiasts saluted it with a house-full stadium.

Mission IGP2 undertaken!

Unlike last year, the measures for the upcoming event are totally different and diverse as the drawback of episode 1 is been kept in mind and the management is working in accordance to it.
The circuit has turned out to be much greener and cleaner and also mechanized dust cleaners have been brought in use to reduce the dust that flows while racing.
Also the extension to the actual tracks at turns 6, 7, 8, and 9 has ben extended from 5 to 15meters.
The racer's safety, the run-off areas at turn 10 and 11 has been extended by a meter.
Keeping in mind the comfort of the fans, the parking lot is much larger now. It can now accommodate 21,000 vehicles from that of last year which was 15,000. Plans for special bus services from Noida are been put into consideration.

The enduring takes…

Though India’s feat in Formula One has not been so imposing as Sahara Force India's drivers Nico Hulkenburg and Paul Di Resta with standing points of 45 and 44 holds 12th and 13th position in top ranking. SFI driver would definitely have an eagle eye on a podium finish as they are missing out by a bit at number of times last year. On the other hand, it will be a tough competition as former world champion Schumacher with 43 points will no doubt try his best to finish his last race with the maximum possible points.

The current thunder storm of Formula One, Sebastain Vettel is also looking forward to the upcoming IGP. The 25-year-old loved the track last year and thought was the quickest after Monza. “The elevation changes around the track which adds run to the fun, is a roller coaster and also the most challenging circuits on the calendar,” he said.

The Indian Grand Prix festival it is, and surely this time it gets much BIGGER, BETTER and strike the tug BANG on target!
