CBSE Orders all Affiliated Schools to use Only NCERT Books
The CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to use NCERT books for all classes from I to XII.
Notifications have been sent to all Heads of schools affiliated to CBSE to only follow NCERT books from class I to XII for the academic session 2017-18. The textbooks will be printed and supplied by NCERT for the specified classes.
The move may have ruffled private schools due to two probable reasons: the quality of the education and the underlying profit motives. The cost of the books sold by private publishers is much higher than the NCERT books. However, some parents and teachers also feel that the content in the NCERT books does not have high quality standards. Some parents in fact even said that they were ready to pay more for books by private publishers as they were convinced it is worth the price in terms of quality.
