CBSE Launches Fifth Leg of Student’s Global Aptitude Index

The Central Board of Secondary Education has launched yet another edition of the Student’s Global Aptitude Index (SGAI). The fifth SGAI will be held in November this year. Registrations have already begun online, and the last date for registrations is 7 October 2014. The registration fee is Rs 100.

The test is optional for both students and schools, and students of Class X are eligible to apply. According to the Board, the aptitude test aims at empowering adolescent students with self-knowledge in terms of aptitude in combination with interests.

CBSE SGAI is not an examination but a pencil and paper assessment with a duration ranging from 1 to 1.5 hours. There is neither negative marking nor are students declared as passed or failed. Because there is no syllabus, students don’t have to prepare for it in advance. Study material is available online which has been curated by experts.

CBSE believes that this initiative will help students determine academic and career choices. It will also help teachers and parents to identify students’ interests and guide them in career planning.
