CBSE Class 10 Mathematics exam to have 2-paper option
Question paper to be divided into standard level or higher level question paper for Mathematics
Here’s good news for students appearing for the CBSE Class 10 board examination. From 2019 onwards, students will have an option to choose a standard level or higher level question paper for Mathematics. Students can choose their paper through a form which will be made available from this academic year. Although with no change of syllabus, students not keen on pursuing a career in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or related fields can attempt a simple question paper.
CBSE officials will start a pilot project in March 2019, and this may be rolled out for Class 12 students as well. A document by the National Curriculum Framework states that students will be examined at two levels in all the subjects eventually. The teaching pedagogy and syllabus will remain the same for both levels of the examination.
With two sets of question papers across the country, the Mathematics exam will offer CBSE students the flexibility to attempt a paper of their choice and score the highest marks in the examination at the school level.
