why trees across an open ground appear to be quivering during summer at noon?

As due to heating differently(layer closer to the earth's surface becomes more hot than the layer above it during the day time and so on), different layers of atmosphere has different density a well as refractive index.
And the density is different so flow of air also goes continuously from one layer to another nd due to local heating effects also the density of different layers keep on changing.so we can not see any fixed image which sticks to one position...it changes frewquently and the image has the flickering effect.
