Tyndall effect is the phenomenon when the light is scattered by the colloidal particles or particles of suspension which illuminates the path of light. The tiny particles scatter the beam of light and make its path visible. In short, it is the scattering of light by particles in its path.
- It can be observed when a fine beam of light passes through a small hole in the dark room.
- This happens due to the scattering of light by the particles of dust or smoke present in the air.
- The Tyndall effect can also be observed when the sunlight passes through the canopy of a dense forest.
- In the forest, the mist contains tiny droplets of water which act as colloidal particles dispersed in the air.
