If a person can not see object beyonfd 1.2 m means , only object at a distance less than 1.2m from his eye
is getting focused on retina as shown in fig.(a).
Far distance objects are focussed well before retina as shown in fig.(b). This defect is known myopic eye defect.
In order to correct the myopic eye defect we need to use concave lens whose focal length equals
far distance 1.2 m as shown in fig.(c) .
Power P of lens is given as
P = 1/f
where f is focal length expressed in metre. According to cartesian sign convention, focal length of concave lens is -ve .
P = - 1/1.2 = -0.825 D
