Why lanthanide show high oxidation state than actinide

Expert Answer:

Actinides show a higher range of oxidation states than lanthanides:

Actinides show a variety of oxidation states from +3 to +6.

This is due to the very small energy gap between 5f, 6d and 7s subshells.

The energies are calculated on the basis of (n+1) rule.
