CBSE Class 12-science Answered
Why is the intensity of light is directly proportional to the square of amiplitude

Light is electromagnetic radiation .
Intensity of electromagnetic wave I = (1/2) ε E2 c
where ε is permittivity of medium , E is intensity of elecric field and c is speed of light
Since Electric field intensity is proportional to amplitude and intensity of light is proportional to
square of electric field intensity , then intensity of light is proportional to square of amplitude .
