CBSE Class 9 Answered
why in atom electrons and protons do not attract each other whether they carries positive and negative charge?

In atoms,electrons and nucleus(proton) attract each other with a force, F= K.q.Q/r 2
K=Proportionality constant
q=Charge on electron(e)
Q=Charge on nucleus(Ze)
But the centripetal force on electron which equals the electrostatic force between electron and nucleus keeps the electron in circular path.
HENCE,ELECTRONS AND PROTONS DO ATTRACT EACH OTHER TO AN EXTENT.
