Why do drawing pins have wide heads?

Expert Answer:

Pressure= Force/Area
Smaller the area greater would be the pressure. So to make the pin pierce the sheet it has to be sharp at the tip on the other hand the head is made broad so that our fingers can apply sufficient force without getting pierced.
