a bus accelerates at 2m per second for first 10 second after the start and retards at 1m per second for next 10 second find the total distance covered by the bus

Given that,
Initial velocity, u=0
Accelerated for first 10 sec, a1 =2ms−1
time t=10sec
Deceleration for next 10 sec, a2 = -1 ms-1
Now, using equation of motion we know that
v=u+at
v1 =0+2×10 ⇒v1 =20m/s
v1 =0+2×10 ⇒v1 =20m/s
Thus distance covered by bus in 10sec get be predicted using equation of motion.
v2 = u2+2a1s1 ⇒ s1 = 100 m
Similarly,
s22 = ut +1/2 at2 ⇒ s2 = 150 m
Thus total distance cover will be 250 m.
