why are colours like red,blue,violet repeatedly seen coming from stars when viewed to an observer on earth?? also why other colours are not emited by the stars?

colours of stars indicate their temperatures.
if the temperature is very hot then we see it blue or violet.
if the star is colder we see it red or orangish.
