What is the function of nucleolus in the nucleus?

The primary function of nucleolus is to assemble ribosomes. It carries out the production and assembling of subunits which together form the ribosomes.
Nucleoli are known to play an important role in the process of mRNA biogenesis.
The nucleolus is also involved in RNA metabolism
The nucleolus has numerous other functions including assembly of signal recognition particles, modification of transfer RNAs and sensing cellular stress.
