what is stearic hindrance ??

steric hinderance occurs because atoms in a molecule have a definite place and occupy a definite volume if two atoms are brought to close they then energy is required for their electrons clouds to overlap as they repel each other this some times prevents the molecule to undergo chemical reactions shown by smaller molecules. Steric hinderance is shown by bulky groups.
