What is pneumonia? What is its origin?

Pneumonia is a common lung infection caused by bacteria (Streptococcus pneumoniae), virus or fungi.
Ways by which one can get pneumonia:
- Bacteria and viruses living in the nose, sinuses or mouth may spread to the lungs.
- One can breathe some of these germs directly into his lungs.
Symptoms of pneumonia:
- Chest pain
- Shaking chills
- Fever
- Dry cough
- Muscle aches
- Nausea/vomiting
- Rapid breathing
- Rapid heartbeat
- Difficulty breathing
Treatment of pneumonia:
- Medications and participating in follow-up care
- A chest x-ray may be ordered to ensure your pneumonia has been successfully treated.
