The iris lies behind the cornea. The iris is a dark muscular diaphragm that controls the diameter and size of the pupil. The pupil regulates and controls the amount of light entering the eye. Hence we can say that iris is majorly responsible for the amount of light reaching the retina.Eye colour is defined by that of iris
