Amit suffering from myopia is not able to see distantly the objects placed beyond five from his eyes. List possible reason due to which this defect of vision may have a rising. With the help of a diagram explain;
(a) why the student is unable to see the objects placed beyond 5 metre.
(b) type of corrective lens used to restore proper vision and how is defect is corrected by the use of this lens.
(C) if in this case, the numerical value of the focal length of the corrective lens is 5 metre find the power of the lens as per the new cartesian sign convention

Amit is not able to see the objects clearly beyond 5 m. Thus, he is suffering from myopia.
The causes of myopia are as follows:
i) elongation of the eyeball
ii) high converging power of eye lens.
a)
The reason due to which the boy is unable to see the object clearly because the image of the object which is placed beyond 5 m is formed in front of the retina and not on the retina.
b)
for correction of this defect, concave lens is used.
c) As the corrective lens is concave lens
focal length, f = - 5 m (concave lens)
P = 1/f (in metres)
P = 1/(-5) = -0.2 D
Thus, power of lens will be - 0.2 D
