what is equilibrium and thermodynamics?

Thermodynamics is the branch of science which studies the transformation of energy from one form to another.
Chemical thermodynamics studies the energy transformations which occur as a result of chemical reactions.
Equilibrium is a state in which no net change is occurring. Something in a state of equilibrium could be considered to be stable, balanced, or unchanging.
