- In 1913, Henry Moseley proved that atomic number is the fundamental property than its atomic mass.
- Atomic number (Z) of an element is the number of protons in the nucleus of the atom and also represents the number of electrons in the outermost shells.
- Mendeleev’s Periodic law was modified and atomic number was adopted as the basis of Modern Periodic Table.
- Modern Periodic Law: Properties of elements are a periodic function of their atomic number.
- The periodic table based on modern periodic law is called the Modern Periodic Table.
