Expert Answer
An electromagnet is a type of magnet in which the magnetic field is produced by an electric current.
An electromagnet consists of a soft iron piece on which an insulated copper wire is wounded. The soft iron is called a core and the insulated copper wire is used to cover the soft iron bar. It acts like a magnet that runs on electricity i.e. when an electric current is passed through the insulated wire, the magnetism is generated and it disappears when the current is turned off. An electromagnet is a temporary magnet.
