Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the blood against the walls of the blood vessels. The blood pressure in the arteries during ventricular systole is called systolic pressure and the blood pressure in the arteries during ventricular diastole is called diastolic pressure. The normal blood pressure for an adult human is 120/80 mm Hg.
