What is biotechnology?

In biotechnology, biological knowledge is applied to practical needs in order to obtain products useful for mankind. Biotechnology is any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms, or derivatives thereof, to make or modify products or processes for specific use. It is also a broad term generally used to describe the use of biology in industrial processes.
