What does mean by a dot product of two vector quantities?

Dot product of force and displacement means the product of their magnitude and cosine of the smaller angle between them . Here , the result gives the value of work ; which is a scalar quantity ( depends only on magnitude , no direction).

note : vector quantities are quantiies which depend on magnitude as well as direction.
