Expert Answer

Two squares have sides x cm and (x+5)cm .The sum of their areas is 697 sq.cm

Hence

x

^{2}+ (x+5)^{2}= 6972x

^{2}+10x+25 = 6972x

^{2}+10x-672=0x

^{2}+5x-336=0Solving

x

^{2}+21x-16x-336=0(x+21)(x-16)=0

x=-21

x=16

sides can't be negative

x=16

so sides are 16 and 21
