Let the price of each books be Rs. x
So, the no. of books purchased = 1200/x
Price of each book is increased by Rs. 30
Number of books purchased = 1200/x+30
After increasing the price, he could by 2 books less
Therefore, we have

1200 over straight x minus fraction numerator 1200 over denominator straight x plus 30 end fraction equals 2 rightwards double arrow 1200 left parenthesis straight x plus 30 minus straight x right parenthesis equals 2 left parenthesis straight x squared plus 30 straight x right parenthesis rightwards double arrow 18000 equals straight x squared plus 30 straight x rightwards double arrow straight x squared plus 30 straight x minus 18000 equals 0 rightwards double arrow straight x equals fraction numerator negative 30 plus-or-minus 270 over denominator 2 end fraction equals negative 150 space space or space space 120 Hence comma space original space price space of space the space book space is space Rs. space 120.
