Two forces each of magnitude  2N act vertically upwards and downwards respectively at two ends of uniform rod of length 1m which is pivoted at center. Draw a diagram of arrangement and determine the resultant moment of force about the mid point of the rod.

Figure shows a rod AB of length 1 m is pivoted at centre C. At A, 2N force acting upward and at B 2N force acing downward.

If we take moment of the forces about C, both moments are clockwise moments.

Moment at A = 2N × 0.5 m = 1 N m
Moment at B = 2N × 0.5 m = 1 N m

Resultant moment = 2 N m
