The sum of the series 1+(1+3)+(1+3+5)+....+(1+3+5+....+15+17)
Asked by samvandana | 06 Apr, 2019, 11:39: AM
S = 1 +(1+3) +(1+3+5)+......................+(1+3+5+7.....+17)
general term = rth term = (r/2)[ 2 + (r-1)2 ] = r2
Hence sum of series S is sum of squares = n(n+1)(2n+1)/6
here number of terms n is obtained from 17 = 1+(n-1)2 or n = 9
Hence S = 9×10×19/6 = 285
