CBSE Class 11-science Answered

The length , breadth, and thickness of a block are measured as 125.5 cm, 5.0 cm, and 0.32 cm,  respectively. Which one of the measurement is most accurate? Explain  briefly.

To find the most accurate value of measurement let us calculate the relative error.
 
F o r space l e n g t h comma space fraction numerator increment calligraphic l over denominator calligraphic l end fraction equals fraction numerator 0.1 over denominator 125.5 end fraction equals 7.96 cross times 10 to the power of negative 4 end exponent space F o r space b r e a d t h comma space fraction numerator increment b over denominator b end fraction space equals space fraction numerator 0.1 over denominator 5 end fraction equals space 0.02 F o r space t h i c k n e s s comma space fraction numerator increment h over denominator h end fraction equals fraction numerator 0.01 over denominator 0.32 end fraction equals space 0.031  
From the calculations, we can see that the relative error in case of length is very less. Thus, the length is most accurate measurement in all of the three measurements.
