Sound is a mechanical wave while light is not, so why does sound wave follow the same rules as reflection of light?

Reflection is the change in direction of a wavefront at an interface between two different media so that the wavefront returns into the medium from which it originated. Common examples include the reflection oflight, sound and water waves.Reflection in general is meant for waves.
