Let x axis be along East direction, then y axis is along North direction,
Vtrain = 30 i
Vcar = 40 j
The relative velocity of car with respect to train = Vcar - Vtrain = 40 j - 30 i.
Hence for the passenger in the train, the speed of car is, √(402 + 302) = 50 km/hr.
And the direction make, an angle tan-1 (-4/3) with the direction of train i.e. East
