Expert Answer
It's the intrisic property of charges. They have the property of influencing and get influenced due to carrying something with them that we call charge.
The influences are attraction and repulsion or simply called electrostatic interaction.
Well, we can ask why do these particles such as electron and proton carry charge in the first place? While electrons are fundamental particles and carry negative charge, there is no room for more "Why" in physics. Things may tread into philosophy.
