Ingestion: It is the process of taking in food into the digestive tract.
Digestion: Enzymes are capable of breaking down the complex, insoluble compounds into the simple and soluble ones, thereby aiding in the process of digestion. They are highly specific, each acting on a particular kind of food.
Absorption: It involves the transfer of digested food from the intestine into the blood.
Assimilation: The process of utilization of nutrients in the cells of the body.
Egestion: Egestion, also called defecation, is the process of removal of undigested food materials left behind after the process of absorption is complete
