answered-by-expert Expert Answer
f(x) = x2 -x -k

if α and β are the zeroes of f(x), then we have,

α+β = 1  ..................(1)

αβ = -k ......................(2)

Given : α - β = 9  ........................(3)

By solving eqn.(1)  and eqn.(3),  we have α = 5  and β = -4

Hence from (2), we get k = 20
