how would we get idea of the magnetic field on unknown planet

There is no possible remote way.
However what we usually do is we see its influence on other nearby heavenly body like a passing comet or electron shower over it by a nearby star.
The later way gives us the most accurate idea of the planets magnetic field due to obvious reasons but for say the foemer way u might ask how do we know about the mearby body's composition and we know that by its spectral signature. I.e by studying the waves emitted or reflected by that body
