There are three kinematical equations that are to be remembered in this chapter.

v = u + at
s = ut + 0.5 at2
v2 = u2 + 2as

Then, you need to analyse the problem.Read the numerical properly and jot down the 'Given' and 'to find' part of the numerical. Then decide which formulae will be required for calculating the 'to find' part. Then substitute the values and calculate the answer. Do not forget to write the units once the calculations are done.

Also, while solving you need to check whether the numerical belongs to - 'freely falling object' type. If it is so, you need to substitute
s = h (i.e. height), a = g ( acceleration due to gravity), where g - negative if the direction of motion of object is acting against the gravity (e.g.- object is thrown in upward direction) while g - positive if the direction of motion of object is towards the gravity (e.g. object is falling down from a certain height)

Thus for free fall kinematical equations will become,
v = u + gt
h = ut + 0.5 gt2
v2 = u+ 2gh

Also remember while solving 'free fall' type numericals - when object is thrown upward to certain height, (final velocity) v = 0 ( when the object reaches the height)
When the object is thrown in downward direction from a certain height, (initial velocity) u = 0

Also for motion in straight line, when the objects starts to move from rest position u =0 and when objects comes to rest v =0.

Hope, this will help you to solve numerical based on this chapter.
