Let Present age of mother = x years  and present age of daughter = y years

5 years ago : mother was (x-5) years, daughter was (y-5),  it is given   (x-5) = 7(y-5)  or x-7y = -30 ...................(1)

5 years hence : mother will be (x+5) years, daughter will be (y+5) years, it is given (x+5) = 3(y+5)  or   x-3y = 10 ...........(2)

By solving eqn.(1) and (2), we get x = 40, y = 10

Hence present ages of mother and daughter are 40 years and 10 years respectively
