Find three consecutive terms in the AP whose sum is 15 and their product is 80( the terms are in ascending order)
Asked by prasadnaikwadi810 | 03 Feb, 2018, 20:55: PM
Let the AP be (a-d) , a (a+d)
by given
(a-d) + a + (a-d) = 15
=> a- d+a+a +d =15
=> 3a =15
=> a = 5
A/q (a-d) * a* (a+d) = 80
=> a^2 - d^2 = 80/a = 80/5 = 16
=> 5^2 -d^2 = 16 => d^2 = 25-16 = 9
=> d = 3 or -3
When d = 3
AP is : (a-d) ,a ,(a+d) = (5-3) , 5 , (5+3)
= 2,5 , 8 . ans { since the is AP is in ascensing order , d = -3 is neglected }
